(2014)

the uprising

A string of protests against bus fare increases echoed all across the country. The flame was lit and what came next was the beginning of something much bigger, a fight for rights and a better country.

The cities were completely taken by loud shouts, which until then, were choked. The streets belong to the people! During this journey, police violence was absurd and out of control. Many were injured, persecuted, arrested, and unfortunately dead. There was no time to give up and as a sign of resistance to this violence, public buildings, streets, and networks, were all occupied by people eager for change. They wanted to be and feel like real citizens, some even for the first time.

24/7 protests. Society has changed and 2013 will be forever in the hearts and minds of those who engaged in one of the biggest popular uprisings in Brazil.
